Dawn Bain
Area Director
Dawn joined MENTOR Oregon in 2001—when the organization was known as DSI—and is now the Area Director for Northern and Central Oregon. She is responsible for the adult and children’s residential and vocational programs and is committed to ensuring that each individual receives personalized services that meet their unique needs.
Dawn’s time with the organization began as a direct support professional in 2001, and she has since used her dedication and passion to work her way up the MENTOR Oregon career ladder. Prior to becoming area director, she was a director of children’s services. She also spent time in the roles of regional administrator overseeing residential and vocational programs in the Portland metro area, and as a program manager for an adult residential program and then a vocational program.
In 2009, in the midst of a six-year term in the U.S. Army, she was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where she served as part of a combat team in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dawn was recognized and awarded the Combat Action Badge and the Army Accommodation. Upon returning home, she rejoined the MENTOR Oregon team and was given the opportunity to expand into her current role. Dawn has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
“Being a part of the MENTOR Oregon team has allowed me to participate as a team member and be a positive influence in individuals’ lives.”
